Synopsis:From The Jungle Book, this is the story of the loyal mongoose, Rikk-Tikki-Tavi, and the lengths to which he must go to protect his adoptive human family

My Review
The story starts off with a small displaced mongoose named Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. When summer flooding occurred, he was washed away from his home. A British family living in India finds him and he becomes a close companion to the family’s son, Teddy.

Rikki-Tikki-Tavi has a friend,  Darzee and his wife
(both tailorbirds/ songbirds) that live in the garden.

Rikki-Tikki-Tavi discovers that garden residents, Nag (the word is Hindi for "snake") and Nagaina (both cobras)  are plotting to kill the English family so they can take over the garden themselves. Nag slithers to the bathroom to wait to kill the "big man". But, Nag fell sleep while waiting. Rikki-Tikki-Tavi grabbed Nag by the head and Nag thrashed and woke the man who shot and killed Nag. Nagaina mourned for Nag and vows to get revenge. Darzee's wife distracts Nagaina, so Rikki can destroy the Cobra's nest and she later distracts Nagaina so Rikki can be victorious.

My Thoughts
Rudyard Kipling did an excellent job at writing this story. It remains one that is very memorable from childhood because it is full of adventure with sad and scary moments.
