Winnie-the-Pooh, Hundred Acre Wood at the Botanical Conservatory

When we were children we always wanted to live in the Hundred Acre Wood which was the where Winnie-the-Pooh, and friends lived. So, as a belated Anniversary gift, my husband surprised me with a trip to the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory  as their winter exhibit depicts A.A. Milne and his illustrator, Ernest H. Shepard, Hundred Acre Wood.

Located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the Conservatory has 3 lovely indoor gardens. In addition to the showcase garden, there is a Tropical Garden and a Desert Garden.

Here,  in the showcase garden we walked hand in hand through a landscape showcased by homes designed for a child’s enjoyment. And, where signs ask if we've seen any heffalumps.

And while many of the tree houses were filled with furniture, I found children were honing their fine motor skills by digging and sifting sand and burying items in the sandpit near Mr Sanders house.

There is a wonderful collection of Eyeore memorabilia and Hands-on learning stations located in the Discovery Gallery and here you can explore for jungle plantimals.

Many things in these gardens delight the senses!

There are attractive plants highlighted by natural light such as cyclamen, kalanchoe, and orchids.

While looking at the different species, we're surrounded by the sound of laughter of children at play.

When we were children we had a collection of Winnie-the-Pooh books and memorabilia. We still have our favorite album of Winnie –the Pooh and the Blustery Day which my husband won on a television show titledCartoon Express”.

Our dogs like Winne-The -Pooh too. As you can see, Tigger is among the favorite toys of our dog, Monroe.

The Tropical Garden has a spectacular cascading waterfall, a pond of goldfish, banana, breadfruit, coffee,  orange tree, bromeliads, cycads, ferns, and palms.

and the calming Desert Garden looks like the Southwest. Here, you'll find, barrel cactus, fishhook, prickly pear, alongside creosote bush, jojoba, mesquite, and yucca.

There is also an outdoor Terrace Garden.

We had a wonderful time reliving memories of childhood in the Hundred Acre Wood.
