The Goodbye Family and the Great Mountain Lorin Morgan-Richards

Review: The Goodbye Family and the Great Mountain

If you are searching for a read that is peculiarly gothic genre and like the Old West you may want to try The Goodbye Family and the Great Mountain. This imaginative and quirky dark adventure is created by Lorin Morgan-Richards.

In this story, you will find an army, led by Frank Thorne whose job was to build Baron Von Nickle's army.  The army is sent into Sunken Creek, forcing villagers to work the mines. Thorne and his army had died years ago and became zombies. Yes! They are walking around decaying and reeking like sulfur which was of course affecting the Goodbye Family burials.

The Goodbye Family is made up of undertakers. Otis is great at storytelling and drives the horse-drawn hearse. Otis's wife Pyridine is an expert in alchemy and a mortician/witch, their daughter Orphie is a grave digger, and their son Kepla remains pretty much hidden.

What I liked best about this read was the Goodbye Family called one another nicknames and rented a Cypress Tree to live in. Grandma always wore her shoes backward and the crows actually talked while they were out scavenging. There were listings of bacteria, toxins, and diseases throughout the read combined with some ancient Greek terminology and the Goodbye Family traveled in the underworld in search of a tonic (miracle cure).
