The Traveler of Truth America's First Superhero The Sojourner Truth Story

I've been immersing myself in a  challenging but powerful read about the life of Isabella "Belle" Baumfree, who in 1843 renamed herself “Truth” for God, and “Sojourner” because she intended to “travel up and down the land,” preaching and testifying.

Gee Monte's The Traveler of  Truth America's First Superhero, The Sojourner Truth Story is of unwavering determination, and it's both inspiring and heartbreaking to explore.

If you’d like to read along, you’ll discover that this historical fiction novel offers an intimate portrayal of Sojourner Truth's life, delving into her motivations for escaping slavery, the individuals she encountered, the challenges she faced, and her impact on American history.

Sojourner Truth was a woman of incredible strength and conviction. Born into slavery as Isabella “Belle” Baumfree, Truth escaped to freedom with her infant daughter in 1826. Two years later, she sued her former owner to recover her son.  She not only freed herself but became a powerful voice for abolition, women’s rights, and justice. She challenged the first desegregation laws, found employment for freed slaves, and became a national hero during the Civil War. Her journey is one of resilience, faith, and unyielding courage.
