2024 My Year In Reading

I've been averaging around 50 books a year lately, which feels a bit bittersweet - especially considering I used to read well over 100. But life changes, and so does the way we spend our time.

This year, my shortest read was Banana and the Beat, and the longest was a return to a classic: The Odyssey

As I get older, I find myself gravitating more toward shorter novels. There’s something comforting in their conciseness.

My average book length was 193 pages, and my average rating was 4.4. I think that’s partly because I’ve become more intentional in my choices, selecting books I already suspect I’ll connect with.

I believe problem-solving is a skill we never stop needing. With that in mind, I began 2024 by reading Blow the Lid Off. Though it was released in 2020, its themes around adaptation, especially during times when many employers had to reimagine work and telecommuting, still feel timely and important.

I closed out the year with Peter Hilty's How Far is Far? A fitting end to a year of thought, reflection, and learning.
