Bring Nature Inside
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you may recall my review of The Naturalist's Notebook, a wonderful guide that encourages us to become more mindful observers of the world around us, deepening our connection with nature.
I’ve embraced that concept wholeheartedly, and every now and then, I get inspired to channel my creativity into journaling, gift wrapping, and even card making. One of my favorite things to do is create handwritten gift wrap and cards using natural-colored paper.
A few years ago, I had fun with this by adding leaves, dog paw prints, and pine trimmings, all wrapped up with twine. It was simple, yet charming. But you don’t have to go all out—sometimes, just adding a few whimsical words to a natural-colored gift bag is enough to create something special.
As a child, I adored paper dolls, and now, as an adult with a deep love for both art and nature, I find joy in bringing these elements together. I love decorating silhouettes of flowers, trees (like the one shown above), birds, and leaves with paints, colors, stamps, and little handwritten notes about the wildlife I’ve observed or the trees I’ve encountered.
Sometimes, altering a photo I’ve taken and transforming it into the cover of a Christmas card is a simple, yet meaningful way to bring nature indoors and share a piece of the outdoors with loved ones.
So, whether you’re getting crafty this winter or simply looking to bring some natural beauty into your home, take a moment to explore the creative possibilities.
Happy Holidays! Enjoy & Explore!
