Review: The First-time Gardener: Growing Vegetables, Jessica Sowards
A while back, I happened upon Jessica Sowards, Roots, and Refuge Farm Vlog and was impressed by her sensible approach to gardening.
Yes, I agree with her! Growing your own food is empowering and homegrown tomatoes do taste better than store-bought ones. So, when her book The First Time Gardener Growing Vegetables came out, I eagerly awaited its arrival.
It is a wonderful book for those new to gardening and those who have been gardening for years, like myself. The book offers all of us the opportunity to review different styles and plants to learn to create a garden we'll love. While my favorite section is on verticle gardening because I have very little experience in that area, I thought The Foundation for Gardening teaches what we need to be successful, and Organic Versus Conventional Methods provided many helpful details.
I fully agree- gardening is hard work as you learn more as you go. It's been my experience that gardening teaches patience as often you must recognize that there are often unforeseen obstacles that will keep you on your toes.
