Review: The Book of Unusual Knowledge

Earlier this week, I had about finished my Frankenstein interview and decided to look up images of Boris Karloff and learned in searching that he had done 80 films unnoticed prior to being in Frankenstein where he then became an overnight sensation.

I like those types of details and many of you know that history is one of my favorite subjects as it is a constant reminder of how things have changed.

Anyway, so,  I have some time off this week and that often entails me scouring charity shops for interesting books to add to the book loft. I came upon this rather large volume. It's 704 pages, twenty-two chapters, and covers anecdotes,  articles, games,  illustrations, and more on a wide array of subjects.

I opened the book to the page with Meg Ryan's name and it told about what she did career-wise prior to becoming a  movie star and figured I can't go wrong reading a book that mentions the bookshop girl. So, I purchased it and made a game of it and quizzed my husband- flipping through pages and looking for names and events I thought he would recognize.

This book, in turn, brought about some interesting discussions over memories we had of who did what, or where we were when this or that happened.  My husband recalled some of what I hadn't and vice versa and there were a lot of things neither one of us was aware of.

Of course, we haven't gone through the whole book and we may never, but it has been amusing so far.
