The demon who tormented him has escaped to the future. He has only seven days and a single chance to exact his vengeance.
Time Travel meets Demonic Possession in this mythology inspired sci-fi thriller.
3077 BC. Ancient India. As a young child, Tej saw his mother endure brutal torture by Kumbh, a nefarious time-demon, until she was rescued by Rigu, a well-known sage. Twenty years later, Tej's scars have healed, but the fire of revenge burns inside him, unabated.
When Rigu reveals that Kumbh has escaped from his time prison and plans to decimate human life on a global scale, Tej knows that he needs to act. To stop Kumbh, Tej must travel five thousand years into the future to the year 2024 AD and re-capture the demon. He races against time as he has only seven days, after which Kumbh will become invincible. The clock is ticking.
I received a copy of this book from Varun Sayal.
Review: Demons Time Race to the 7th Sunset Varun Sayal
Varun Sayal imagination soars. He teams multiple perspectives in this time travel sensation.
This story begins in 3000 BC. Two demons, Kumbh also known as Kaal-daitya, and his twin brother Vetri are fearsome. Kumbh has a human and goat skull necklace and a shining metal hammer stained with old, dried blood. Vetri carries a long strand of barbed wire in his hands.
Their slaves, a woman Dhara and her 8-year-old son, had escaped. The demons have been chasing them through the Dandak forest.
Both demons caught up to the slaves. Dhara pleads with the demons to spare her son. The demons plan to slay the son and take Dhara with them. Renowned sage Guru Rigu appears. Rigu is a time reader and an enemy of the two demons that crawl through time and possess people, control them and cause death. Rigu is cunning and is able to help Dahara and her son evade the demons before moving onto the ashram.
Tej enters the story. We learn he has a task of utmost importance. He must travel to the year 2024 AD and re-capture Kumbh. Tej has only 7 days to do this, after which Kunbh becomes invincible.
There are many concepts and locations that I had not thought of in this time travel production. All are mingled with bio-engineered medicines and a strong respect for traditions.
The spiritual aspect enters the plot and the author brilliantly points, readers, in the direction of being able to distinguish different cultures and address ethical theories as they recognize crimes against humanity.
It's a cleverly constructed race against time for restoration and preservation.
