Review: Railroad to the Moon by Rob Garan

A few years back I mentioned that I like to frequent The Armstrong Air & Space Museum. My memories of this museum go way back to my childhood. My first visit to the museum was shortly after it opened in 1972.

At this museum, you will recognize that breaking new frontiers made a world of difference for a boy named Neil who loved to fly and had a neighbor with a powerful telescope.

I am still pretty big on exploring so it seems like a place dedicated to aviation and space exploration is as good a place as any for me to hang out. And these details lead to me telling you I was thrilled when Astronaut Ron Garan contacted me to share his book Railroad to the Moon.

This story is filled with valuable information and takes a look at Alexa thinking about Grandpa Strongbridge's tradition of opening up new frontiers which form the story for her homework.

In this story, you'll find Alexa is able to use her voice to get children's attention and help them learn words when she shares her story about the moon.

The book is very stimulating! It includes art from the (IAAA) International Association of Astronomical Artists. These images and the text provided will help children think about using telescopes, touching moon dust, and working space jackhammers.

Wouldn't it be awesome to travel the solar system and meet all the people living in Armstrong City?

RAILROAD TO THE MOON is a children’s book dedicated to the men and women who made the first moon landings possible with the hope that we honor their accomplishments and sacrifices by returning to the moon—this time to stay—for the betterment of all the inhabitants of planet Earth.
