Hinterland L.M. Brown

Review; Hinterland

Nicholas ‍Giovanni is a taxi driver still living in the same house he grew up in. His closest neighbor is his mother’s best friend, Tilly and after Tilly takes a fall in the yard Tilly's daughter Ina returns to the neighborhood.

Nicholas attempts to focus his attention on his daughter Kate but he finds this difficult as he has always been drawn to Ina who is his sister-in-law.

Meanwhile, Kate's mother Kathleen Lehanne does not help matters much as she spends a fair amount of her time avoiding her mental health professional who urges Nicholas to have her reschedule her appointment.

Then the inconceivable happens...and we are reminded that our perception has a huge impact on our emotional state and behavior.

This story exposes the intimate journey of a youth's quest for understanding and love. This moving story also offers a view of what it is like to live with someone displaying signs of psychosis and spending time in and out of psychiatric hospitals.
