Witchland Tim Mulligan

Recently, I had a discussion with a reader who is less than half my age and he stated he does not enjoy much of modern-day literature as he feels the language expressed in older works was superior.

We continued our discussion when I asked why he felt this way.

He responded that when reading he feels the need to be able to visualize what is occurring and he felt in older works it was more descriptive so he was better able to flesh out the characters. He informed me for thought-provoking complexity, he often turns to graphic novels.

With the mention of this, I thought of a graphic novel I was recently gifted titled Witchland which is the book adaptation of the play WITCHLAND - based on author Tim Mulligan's experiences growing up in Richland Washington. This graphic novel supports the LGBTQ+ community and it followed a docudrama I'd recently watched titled Einstein and the Bomb.

Hanford and the communities of Richland, West Richland, Pasco, and Kennewick are known as the Tri-Cities region in southeastern Washington. The Hanford site was established as part of the top-secret Manhattan Project where reactors transformed uranium into plutonium and more powerful nuclear fuel.

Witchland story is an exploration of a town shrouded in mystery. This novel shows readers that many people view challenges as opportunities The story also provides an understanding of what it means to have a strong support system and of how perception impacts reactions.

I received this Graphic novel from Tim Mulligan.

Witchland the play is appearing in Palm Springs in February 2024 at Revolution Stage Company. It is then moving to New York in April 2024 at Manhattan Repertory Theatre Company.
