A Heartfelt Story About Dogs: Let Me Tell You About Jasper by Dana
As many of you know, a lot of my blog readers are dog owners, so I wanted to share a book I recently purchased that truly touched my heart. It's called Let Me Tell You About Jasper by Dana, and it's about a Hungarian Vizsla named Jasper, who became known as "America's Dog."
Dana’s story begins with the loss of her beloved dog Henry. After some time, she welcomed Jasper into her life. What I love about this book is Dana's candidness as she shares the ups and downs of living with Jasper.
One of the funniest things she mentions is how, when walking through Central Park with Jasper, more people recognized him than her! The book is filled with forthright stories about their time together, many of which are lighthearted and humorous. There are also plenty of illustrated images that add to the charm, some of which are downright hilarious.
Reading about Dana's experiences reminded me so much of my own life with dogs. Our two male dogs are 13 years old, and our female will soon be 2. It's funny because we don't even get far from home before someone asks about our dogs, and we often find ourselves asking others about theirs too. Dogs become such an integral part of our lives, and the memories we create with them are priceless. They're not just pets; they’re family members who comfort us during difficult times.
Sadly, Jasper passed away in 2021 from cancer, but what really resonates with me is the love Dana had for him. This book gave me a deeper appreciation for Hungarian Vizslas, and it’s clear that Jasper was not only loved but cherished.
If you're a dog lover, or if you simply enjoy heartfelt stories about the bond between humans and their furry friends, I highly recommend this book. It’s a beautiful reminder of how much dogs mean to us and the joy they bring to our lives.
