Review: Scars That Never Heal

If you were to ask around you may hear different definitions for scars and I think is appropriate to point out that scars leave a mark as they recall old wounds.

Scars that Never Heal is a compelling read from its very first page. This story begins with Carol Carter having a nightmare. She hears keys jangling, then footsteps. She smells the stench of alcohol and feels a hand moving up her thigh. Carol kicks out in her sleep saying NO, NO, NO  and wakes her husband who is immediately concerned and questions her.  Carol doesn't feel comfortable sharing and her husband doesn't push the issue. He does however encourage her to seek assistance to help her understand her dream.

Carol seeks help to address the past and present. We see Carol step back in time and tell us about her family. We learn about the perpetrator and see he refused all forms of treatment and when confronted with his actions said he would deny it.

Feeling powerless - asking why me -  Carol keeps the secret until she feels able to share it.  Carol eventually recognizes to move forward she must apply forgiveness and self-love.

This beneficial book is grounded in biblical scripture and speaks about the importance of Therapeutic journaling. It includes strategies, techniques, and insightful excerpts Carol learns from others along her healing journey.
