A Story About Pizza Erica D’Arcangelo

Many people immigrate to the United States to find suitable work and provide safety for their families. The D’Arcangelo's arrived here and we learned a few of the men worked hard labor, six days a week, in the Berwind-White Coal Mines.

Outside of the mines they worked for two years building their own home. When not working, they attended Sunday Mass and came home to homemade bread, pasta, and meatballs.

When the men received pink slips from Berwind-White Coal Mining Company, they had to look for other work. This is when Pietro recalled his dream of one day opening a market. He made it happen with the opening of D’Arcangelo’s Market and this later transformed into D'Arc's Pizza Shop.

This heartwarming story taught me about an Italian family's deep appreciation for family and the pizza-making business and it also provided me with some delicious recipes.
